In t he neighborhood around the way from me, I always see this Chevy pickup street parked with a metal bucket under the engine bay. Usually I'd see it on my way to work in the morning but we started going for walks in there when the lockdowns hit. I took this pic 5 weeks ago when the trees were blossoming and forgot about it until now. Whoops.

That poor truck has had many Jegs clearance items thrown at it. Those headlights make me very sad. As do the wheels, grille and hood.

Underneath the street is soil, and underneath that is water which may be feeding the stream where your drinking water is coming from. Although there’s bacteria which probably gobble up oil from a leaky RMS before it gets there, and the street itself probably binds most of it up.

Yes, I’m studying for a soils and groundwater contamination class.

As a motorcyclist, I appreciate the effort.

Timing chain cover /oil pan gasket leaks on GenI SBCs are an OEM QA/QC requirement . Same with the stupid 2 piece rear main seal. Can be fixed in place but is a pain - generally takes most of day to fix . Most likely will fail again immediately lol . Bucket life is less frustrating.

Might be an army guy.  Most the trucks parked at Ft Gordon GA we’re all sporting drip  trays.
